Donnalee Downe is an artist and educator currently living and working in Charlottetown, PE, Canada. Her work is rooted in the domestic – often involving archives of images and objects of a personal nature. Her Charlottetown home on Peake Street has been used for exhibitions, artist residencies, and meetings and social gatherings for a variety of artist groups. Hosting and catering have helped her establish a sense of belonging in PEI’s vibrant community of makers. This summer Downe moves her practice from the studio to the kitchen. She will mount ‘Make Me a Sandwich’ at Art in the Open, 2015 – making sandwiches for participating artists.
Sometimes all the artist needs is someone to make them a sandwich.
